Non tutte le ciambelle riescono col buco
Literally: Not all doughnuts come out with a hole
What it really means
Things don't always turn out as planned — and that's alright.
When nonna would say it
Comfort offered after a small failure: a flopped recipe, a plan that fell through, a mistake that wasn't the end of the world.
Picture this
Your cake sinks in the middle and you're nearly in tears. Nonna shrugs, cuts a slice anyway, and says warmly: «Eh, non tutte le ciambelle riescono col buco.»
